RE: Rear bed...what a piece of junk

We did the 2" foam top also and added a thick mattress cover that made the mattress much more comfortable than it was. Has not been an issue for us since doing this. However, if you can have a nice replacement mattress made for you go for it as a good nights sleep is priceless..

RE: GPS in class C

My old iQue 3600 usually worked well on the windshield but I bought a Gilson external antenna that plugs into it so now I keep the unit on the doghouse in the cupholder and the antenna is at the front of the dashboard where it gets great signal reception.

I would think the heat gun would actually loosen it.. I would be reluctant to try it.

RE: Catalina Class C Fresh water drain?

I have the same setup as rondeb and you pull up the three valves to drain the fresh water tank. There should be drain holes under the coach but they may be hidden or blocked by frame members or...

RE: Makin' the Bed

In our little 24' rig I am able to just kneel in the center of the bed and put the fitted sheet on the outside (rear corner) and then pull it over the other ends. Does not seem to be a major problem. Have to spread the top sheet and spread a bit from the bottom but leaving a few wrinkles is OK with us. Just toss the pillows on top and away we go. I agree it is a pain when the wife gets out of bed and has to get over my long legs on the outside. However, I usually feel her moving and am able to move my legs out of the way to make it easier for her. We really like having a bed at the ready and not having to climb up in the cabover or making up a bed in the dinette area.

RE: Battery post corrosion - how to prevent?

Well it looks like there are several approaches but the baking soda sounds like a good start and then maybe the spray stuff. Thanks a bunch to everyone.

Battery post corrosion - how to prevent?

I had a lot of green corrosion on my battery terminals that I wire brushed off but I got more corrosion very quickly on the terminals... a whiteish powder. I seem to remember years ago that people put vaseline or something on the posts to keep the air from them so they would not corrode. Is that recommended or is there something better to use. Is the corrosion a sign of some problem? Vaseline might be a bit messy.

RE: 1995 Coachmen Catalina

I ve a 1999 Catalina Sport and had to have some weep holes drilled out to st op some window leaking. Also some of the front overhead clearance lights needed to be replaced as they were cracked and taking in water. Hope this helps.

Driveway specs for an RV ? What should I specify?

Hi,
My old concrete driveway is cracking and I am thinking of replacing it. Our City code does not specify much except it should be at least 4 inches thick.
I park several cars and our 12,000 # Class C RV on it.
Should I:
Ask for more than 4 inches thick? How thick is good?
A certain bag count or cement mix?? I hear talk of 5 or 6 bag mixes?
Rebar - reinforcement bars or wiring? Looks like pretty thin rolled wire stuff they put into driveways around here. What is best?
A certain finish? Do you seal driveways?
What am I missing? I do not want to have to go through this again so I am hoping that I can get someone to do a good job for a reasonambe sum of money..... :B
Thanks for any and all feedback.

RE: OOoops I have bubbles in my A&E awning,,, Did I do it

I wonder if you can just replace the fabric/vinyl part of the awning and not the whole thing? Anyone have experience with this?

RE: OOoops I have bubbles in my A&E awning,,, Did I do it

Yes, there must be multiple layers of the vinyl fabric so delamination may be the correct term for the problem I am seeing. Hate to put pin holes in the awning... Any other suggestions?

OOoops I have bubbles in my A&E awning,,, Did I do it

by washing the awning with warm water and professional strength soilex to get rid of mold and mildew from the winter??? I scrubbed it with a brush and then rinsed it thoroughly so it did not stay on for a long time. But, I noticed I had large and small circles/bubbling on various parts of the awning that I had not noticed before. Do you think the soilex did it? I had the awning open to dry on a hot day today but I do not think that would cause bubbling. The bubble areas seem to be very smooth versus the rest of the awning. Has anyone else experienced something like this? And if so, what may have caused it?
TIA, John S.

RE: vent rattle down the road

I also used the rag approach but more recently the outer door cracked and I have it taped up to prevent it from falling apart. Figure I will have to replace it but it sounds like there are no great replacements for this. Everyone seems to be suffering with it except for the folks using the fantastic fans to exhaust their cooking byproducts.
